Wesley Olson

The Swift Current Broncos certainly didn't shy away from picking local talents this year at the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

After selecting Swift Current's Parker Rondeau and Gull Lake's Berney Weston - the WHL club made one more southwest splash grabbing Chaplin's Wesley Olson in the 10th round with the 206th overall pick.

Olson played alongside Rondeau on the Swift Current Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos top line and scored 24 goals and 42 points in 31 games.

"He's really underrated," Rondeau said about his past and future teammate. "He's really good defensively, which really puts him in a good spot for this draft because there are not many kids that can play the defensive side of the game."

The 5-foot-5 forward has signed with the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires for next season.

Jace Egland

And the fourth player picked from the Swift Current Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos was Jace Egland.

The Winnipeg Ice added the Eastend product to their team with the last selection in the sixth round.

The 5-foot-8 right winger posted 63 points in 31 games for the U15 AA Broncos.

He will also join Rondeau, Weston, and Olson next year on the Legionnaires.

"I didn't really know him before but he played in Swift last year so I got to know him a little better, he's a really nice kid, loved hanging out with him," Rondeau said. "He works so hard on and off the ice. Just amazing playing on a line with him this year."

Gage Nagel

The lone local skater to be drafted into the WHL today not on the Pure Chem Broncos roster this past season was Gage Nagel.

He was chosen by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the seventh round, a team his cousin and former Bronco Tanner Nagel suited up for parts of two seasons.

The 15-year-old Swift Current product spent the season playing for the Notre Dame Hounds U15 Prep team scoring eight goals and 16 points in 29 games.
