If anyone would like to nominate a local business for a SCBEX award, time is running out.
Nomination submissions will be closing this Thursday for the Swift Current Business Excellence Awards. Nominations can be for any business in town, not just members of the organizing body Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce, and anyone can make a nomination.
Encouraging people to get in their nominations before it's too late is Karla Wiens, the executive director for the Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce.
"Nominations are open until the end of the day, August 31," said Wiens. "How they nominate is they can go to the Chamber website, and click on the SCBEX event. The award criteria is listed there and the nomination page is listed there as well."
These awards are designed to highlight businesses that members of the community think fit into one of the available categories. Anyone is able to nominate the business, with all nominations being individually evaluated.
The folks evaluating the nominees are last year's winners. They, each on their own, select their top three for each category. After the selections are made,e everyone is invited out for the awards on October 27 at the Living Sky Casino Events Centre.
"All the nominations come in anonymously, but they will see exactly what was written about each nominee," said Wiens.
This year will feature some special, hand-blown glass awards to mark 25 years of the SCBEX Awards. The event is sure to be special this year, marking a quarter-century of business excellence within the community.
"We will also, as in previous years, live stream the event so the entire community can participate and celebrate the likely many people that they know," said Wiens.
