The traffic lights at the corner of Central Avenue North and George Street have remained out of commission for over two weeks, but the city hopes to have things fixed shortly.

Director of Engineering, Rob Niewenhuizen, believes the control box was short circuited due to a lightning strike during the storm on June 29th.

Niewenhuizen says the parts were out-dated, so the city has ordered replacement parts which will arrive later this week.

If all goes well, the lights should be operational once again this weekend or early next week.

While the lights are out of commission, the intersection is treated as a four way stop.
