Remembrance Day activities don’t just take place on November 11.

To kick off Veteran’s Week in Swift Current, the Legion Branch 56 met for a flag raising ceremony at Market Square on Monday morning.

Former president of the Legion, Jim Pratt, said that while the weather consisted of blowing snow and freezing temperatures, a few folks still made it out, including Mayor Al Bridal.

"The week prior to Remembrance Day is always considered Veteran's Week," Pratt explained. "Traditionally we have a flag raised on the Monday of Veterans Week to honor all veterans, just to show respect for what the soldiers and sailors and Air Force men and women went through to give us the freedoms that we have today. It's just our small way of showing respect for what they did for us."
