Warmer temperatures melting snow downtown Swift Current earlier this winter.

We've been spared a cold winter so far, and that's meant less time sitting indoors with that furnace running up the heat and the power bill.

A relatively mild winter has had furnaces running a little less than usual, and that's meant less strain on Light and Power utilities in Swift Current so far this season.

Mitch Minken is the city's Director of Light and Power and has noticed a trend in recent years.

Minken is expecting more demand though as the winter goes on and cooler temperatures begin to settle in around the region. Hopefully not too soon.
