Prairie durum producers have shared their thoughts on how the Canadian Wheat Board operates and the agency has listened. In response there are some changes for the 2006/07 crop year with respect to durum.Garry Pichlyk, Senior Manager of Farmer Services, says one new program will kick in during a poor growing year. There will be a new durum select contract that will provide an incentive to preserve the highest quality grain for premium markets.Other changes include a move from three down to two contracts, series 'A' and 'B'.Producers on durum contract may also be subject to a bin audit to verify stocks.Assuming a normal harvest and grade pattern for Canadian Western Amber Durum the Board will move to guaranteed delivery certificates for numbers four and five C.W.A.D.
