A weekend sweep of the Battlefords Stars for the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires on home ice this weekend.

After a 4-0 win on Saturday at Fairview West arena, the Legionnaires came away with a 4-2 win in a gritty Sunday contest.

Battlefords put the game's first goal on the board on the man-advantage with six minutes left in the first period, breaking a 74-minute scoreless streak in Fairview West.

A Legionnaires' powerplay goal in the second period courtesy of Kersey Reich tied the game up, before Owen Ozar gave Swift the lead with a goal just over a minute left in the middle frame.

Battlefords answered back with their second powerplay goal of the game in the third period, but the Stars were unable to generate nearly as many even-strength scoring opportunities as the Legionnaires in the game's final period.

Jagger Prosofsky and Jacob Piller closed the game out for Swift Current with goals two minutes apart in the final six minutes, as the Legionnaires now improve to 4-2 on the season.

"It's huge for us - we've got a little separation in the standings from the other teams," Piller said. "You couldn't ask for much more than getting two wins here this weekend."

Piller's goal in the contest brings his total to six through six games. The product of Balgonie says there hasn't been too much of a secret to his success finding the back of the net this year.

"I don't know - things are just going in, I guess," Piller said. "I'm finding spots, and it's just going in right now."

Goalie Cody Levesque stopped 16 of 18 shots in the win, and 45 of 47 over the weekend.

Thanks to the two weekend wins, the Legionnaires' starting goaltender now boasts a 3-0 record, to go along with a .940 save percentage, and a 1.50 GAA.

"It's huge to have confidence in Cody," Piller said. "He played solid all weekend and made some big saves. That was really big for us to be able to trust him back there."

The Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires' next game is October 14 in Battleford against those same Stars.
