The Swift Current 57's are onto the second round after last night's 6-1 win over the hosting Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Four and five hitters Bodie Cooper and Brett Essau each had three hits for Swift Current and Mitch Guiberson threw six scoreless innings as the 57's took the best-of-five series in four games.

Cooper had a pair of doubles and Essau had one of three 57's steals. Thomas DeBonville stole a base, and Nick Canas swiped his third of the postseason.

Guiberson allowed six hits over the six innings, striking out two and walking none.

Grant Westmoreland, Scott Platt and Ty Schindel each had two-hit nights for Moose Jaw, but all of the team's nine hits in the game were of the single-base variety.

Next up for the 57's are the Weyburn Beavers. The series starts in Swift Current for Games 1 and 2 Monday and Tuesday before shifting to Weyburn for Game 3 and 4. Wednesday is Game 3, Thursday would be Game 4, and if necessary, Game 5 would be back in Swift Current Friday night.

Weyburn beat the Regina Red Sox 11-5 last night to win their series in four games.

Swift Current finished the season as the top team in the East. Their 33-15 record was three games ahead of second-place Weyburn. But the Beavers took six of eight regular-season decisions against the 57's.
