The Swift Current 57s used a late charge to draw close, but ultimately dropped their Tuesday night tilt to the visiting Okotoks Dawgs in a 9-7 effort at Mitchell Field.

The 57s fifth-straight loss at home started out all Okotoks. The Dawgs jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a single run in the first inning and two in the second, fourth, and sixth frames.

That offensive burst chased 57s starter Tommy Steier off the mound after 5-1/3 innings, giving up four earned runs on eight hits, while managing seven strikeouts. He was charged with the loss.

Swift managed to put a run on the board in the home half of the sixth inning on a solo home run from Bo McClintock, his sixth bomb of the season.

After the Dawgs added two more runs to make it 9-1 in the top of the seventh inning, the 57s responded with the first of six unanswered runs.

Jerad Dokey grounded out, scoring Jered Binsfield from third in the bottom of the seventh.

Then, in front of a season-high crowd of 565 at Mitchell Field, the crooked numbers started to pile on in the eighth inning.

Ethan Hunter and Bryan Benz both singled to open the eighth, before McClintock hit a three-run homer to clear the bases.

Binsfield added a solo shot later in the inning to draw the 57s within three runs.

The ninth inning showed hints of promise at completing the comeback after Benz knocked the 57s fourth homer over the heads of the Dawgs' outfielders, but the solo shot was the last run to score in the game.

Coming on in relief of Steier, Spencer Koelewyn gave up two earned runs while punching out five batters over 2-2/3 innings. Matt Fiorini pitched a scoreless ninth inning as well, giving up a hit and a walk.

McClintock has been on a tear the past 48 hours, as his four homers in two games would stand alone as WMBL-leading numbers - however his total of seven over the season's first 11 games more than doubles that of a pile of players around the league with three.

McClintock also boasts a WMBL-leading 16 RBI after racking up four last night, and three on Monday night.

The 57s (3-8) have a rare day off today before looking to snap their home losing skid Thursday night in the first game of a two-game set with the Melville Millionaires (3-6).
