There won’t be much time to rest over the weekend for the Bantam 'AAA' 57's.

Having a loaded schedule upon them for the next three days, they will play doubleheaders on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

However, as they prepare to begin the long stretch, the Bantam 'AAA' team will begin with an exciting opportunity Friday night.

When they play host to White Butte for two games, they will take place at Mitchell Field under the lights.

"There is a lot that goes with it," Head Coach Derek Murdoch said about the excitement of playing at night. "Obviously, the lights are one thing, but it's a completely different experience, and anybody that has been to a game at night knows that. The cool thing for our guys is they have all been going to watch the (WMBL's Indians/57's). These kids have grown up in (Swift Current) seeing a top-notch baseball program from the top they are little guys starting in rally cap, and now they get to play on that field."

Normally something a player does not get to experience until Midget baseball, Murdoch added that the whole team is getting pumped up for the opportunity.

From a tactical standpoint, however, a few things do change, as playing on Mitchell Field means the dimensions become much bigger.

That will just add to the fun of the night though.

"We actually practiced on Mitchell Field Tuesday night just so the guys could get a sense of it," Murdoch said. "It's quite a bit bigger, obviously, we are going to play on a real size diamond. The guys were running around, trying to hit the ball as far as they could. It was a cool experience."

Entering Friday night with a record of 6-3, Swift Current got the better of the Broncos in their first two meetings this season.

The 57's downed White Butte 8-2 and 10-0 in their two previous meetings.

Despite Friday's two games taking place in a new setting, Murdoch says despite the lights and the field, it is still just baseball.

"It will probably be a little bit of a feeling out process early in the game just to see how deep guys should play," he said. "At the end of the day though, they are kids that are going to go out and make plays, and we are confident they will go out and have fun and make good plays."

The first game of the doubleheader will get underway close to 7:00pm, with the second game to follow.
