The Swift Current Comp Ardens clinched a tenth-straight Moose Jaw High School Soccer League Championship yesterday in 'The Friendly City'.

The Ardens surged to a 5-2 victory, after the game was dead-locked at 1-1 at the half.

Bryn Haubrich and Jannae Carlson each potted a pair of goals, while MJ Anderson added a goal and two assists in the win. Juliana Whalen earned the W in goal for the Ardens.

The win served as a bit of revenge for Swift Current, after the Eagles snapped the Ardens' 95-league game unbeaten streak in the second game of the season.

"Yeah we really wanted redemption for the first game that we lost to them," said Anderson on Swift's first loss since the 2008 season.

"It wasn't a real good feeling for our players, so they were really looking forward to a rematch, and to get a tenth-straight league title definitely felt good four our players," said assistant coach Steven Mah. "Some of them have been through those wars, and some who are rookies now and are just kind of getting a taste of it, so it was a good experience all-around."

"Pretty proud of the girls for the way they responded," Mah added. "Certainly this team's gone through some adversity this season with injuries, games being cancelled, and poor weather. We haven't been on the field a whole lot, and don't have a lot of game experience as a team, but I think we pulled through that pretty good."

"We trained really hard at all our practices, and just tried to give 110% all the time," added the Grade 11 Anderson. "You're just confident with your team, so you're confident in your game, and then overall it helps you win."

The Ardens are set to play host to Weyburn and Yorkton in the 3A South Regional this weekend in Swift Current.
