Although not the result they wanted on the basketball court, the Swift Current Comp. Senior Ardens were more than happy with the result of their fundraiser.

Playing their 'Pink Game' Thursday night to help raise money for the family of the late Rena Best, the Ardens dropped a tough 57-56 decision to the North Battleford Vikings, but raised $13,630 in the process.

Best, a SCCHS alumni and Manager of the 1985 Ardens Basketball provincial championship team, recently lost her battle with stage 4 colon cancer which she had been fighting for two years, leaving behind her husband and two children.

The cheque, which was presented to the family following the game, will be put towards a trust fund for the two kids.

The Ardens do a variety of fundraising events at the game and leading up to it.

Face painting was available prior to tip-off, along with a silent auction and raffle table to help further raise more money.

With the 'Pink Game' now successfully completed, the Ardens will begin to turn their focus towards provincials.

SHSAA Conference playoffs will begin this weekend, with Regionals scheduled for March 17-18 and Provincials on March 24-25.
