The Swift Current Broncos have brought back a familiar face for the push towards the playoffs.

Following a strong six-game run with Nipawin in the SJHL, the Broncos called Brandan Arnold back up to the WHL prior to Wednesday's win over Edmonton.

Arnold had spent the majority of the season with the Broncos before being re-assigned prior to the trade deadline. In six games with the Hawks he recorded 5 goals and 7 assists.

The Dodsland native felt his time spent in Nipawin was well worth it.

"I was pretty excited," he said. "I got to play with my brother there and we've never played on the same team. I knew coming into it, they were one of the top teams in the SJHL this year and I knew I needed to put some points, get my confidence back and that's what I did."

Arnold can bring some of the lessons from his SJHL success with him as he returns to the Broncos.

"I think I need to start using my speed more," he noted. "That was one thing before when I was here, I wasn't using my speed as much as I should have been. Just throwing pucks on net and playing simple, sticking to the details and I should be fine."

With Arnold's confidence back after tearing up the SJHL for a few weeks, the Broncos are hoping to see Arnold use his x-factor.

"Brandan can be a skillful player and through his speed alone creates a lot of scoring opportunities," said Broncos coach and director of player personnel Manny Viveiros. "So if he has that confidence hopefully that will help us with our hockey team."

The Broncos had only won once in their previous seven games before bringing Arnold back from Nipawin. The 19-year old offers versatility energy and veteran leadership to a group attempting to get back on track.

"I can't think of a better time to bring him back," Vivieros said. "He's going to bring energy to our team, such a well-liked kid in our room and we have so much respect the way he works as a young player."

Arnold has 9 points over 71 career WHL games.

He and the Broncos are back in action tomorrow night when they play host to top prospect Nolan Patrick and the Brandon Wheat Kings.

It will be the first game back at the Credit Union iPlex for former Broncos Kade Jensen and Travis Child. Swift Current dealt them to the Wheat Kings for veteran goaltender Jordan Papirny a few weeks ago.
