The Tarpon Energy Atom AA Broncos held their home tournament over the weekend, running into stiff competition while generating a solid result.

The Atom Broncos started bright and early on Friday morning against the Prairie Storm. They fell behind 4-0 after the first period but battled back to a 7-6 win on a hat-trick by Ryder Woods and the game-winning goal by Derric Dulatre. Chase Kee got the win in net.

In game two on Friday evening, the Broncos won 7-3 over the Saskatoon Wild Lightning on a strong performance in net by Tate Leshures, and a hat-trick by Parker Rondeau.

Their first game on Saturday afternoon saw the Atom Broncos trample the Regina Mustangs 9-1 to advance to the A-side final.

Once again, both Woods and Rondeau had hat-tricks in the semi-final win.

An intense battle awaited in the final between the Atom AA Broncos and Saskatoon Redwing Ice Wolves.

A pair of Rondeau goals put the Broncos up 2-1 after the first period.

In the second, Saskatoon got in rhythm putting up four goals, while Swift answered with a pair from Nate Silbernagel and Dulatre for a 5-4 Saskatoon lead after 40 minutes.

Woods tied the game up halfway through the third period, but Saskatoon took the lead back two minutes later.

Battling back for a chance at gold in the final minutes of the game, forward Aidan Robinson tied the game up with the final goal of regulation to send the final into overtime.

The momentum couldn't continue for Swift Current in the extra frame, as Saskatoon buried the OT-winner just 16 seconds to take gold in a 7-6 win, and hand Swift the silver medal.
