After finishing with a 12-11-1-4 record and falling in the league quarter-finals to the Regina Rebels, the Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats held their annual spring camp this past weekend at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

"We like what we see, but until you see what the other teams have too, sometimes it's hard (to gauge) - Overall it's been a real good two days of hockey here," said Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely. "The good thing is I think there's a lot of good kids and lot of good hockey players."

The depth of competition could certainly extend outside spring camp if the Wildcats are able to secure all high-end talent that was present over the weekend.

"We've got some really high-end kids that we hope make decisions to come here. We know that some of them are being recruited by other teams, but we're going to give them our sales pitch and hopefully they choose to come and play for us," Pavely noted.

Swift Current graduates four players from last season's roster:

F - Brooklyn Colborn
D - Taylor Kirwan
D - Tenelle Lind
D - Toni Theaker

"I think with our returning players from last year up front and the highly skilled forwards we've seen here, we think our forward group will be probably as deep as anybody's," said Pavely. "We lose some obviously trying to fill three holes on the back end, but I think there's a number of kids that will really battle for spots come August."

The camp also gave the organization a chance to assess potential talent for the future, as the Wildcats also hosted their first ever prospects camp for some younger talent from the region.
