Swift Current Broncos camp wrapped up with a fine display from their young players in the annual intrasquad game.

Team White beat Team Blue 3-2 in a game that mostly featured rookies or young returning players.

2016 first round bantam draft pick Logan Barlage scored, had an assist and made several highlight-worthy plays for Team Blue as he prepares for his first WHL season.

Barlage went coast-to-coast on the game's opening goal before later forcing a turnover and setting up Matt Allardyce for a shorthanded goal.

Swift Current Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires leading scorer Ethan Regnier, 15-year-old Samuel Schofield and defenceman Christian Reimer had the goals for Team White.

Schofield re-directed in a nice pass from Riley Stotts as he continued to show offensive instincts at camp.

“Fun game,” Schofield said. “Very high tempo and good speed.”

The young list player from Yellowknife feels his hands are a huge key for overcoming a smaller stature.

“It's very important for my game because I'm a smaller guy,” Schofield said. “I can't really push through guys I have to go around them some how.”

After his first full WHL camp experience Schofield knows what he needs to improve on to be back at the WHL level full time one day.

“The speed,” Schofield said. “That you don't need to be a big guy to play in the WHL... I've got to get more muscle mass and don't be afraid to go in the corners.”

Bailey Brkin earned the win in goal out of all four netminders to see game action.

2016 first round bantam draft pick Jacson Alexander did not appear in the game after being at Broncos camp all week. Alexander had previously committed to the University of Denver in the NCAA and returned home before Sunday's contest.

The WHL pre-season gets underway in Moose Jaw tomorrow between the Warriors and Broncos in the rookie game.
