Ryan Jevne scored his second of the game in overtime as the Medicine Hat Tigers came back from down 3-1 to beat Swift Current 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.

The Broncos still picked up three of a possible four points in the home-and-home set with the Tigers this weekend.

It was an up and down game for both teams that was at times pretty choppy. Jevne scored the lone goal of the first period knocking a puck out of mid-air between the legs of Stuart Skinner on the power play.

Swift Current drew even on captain Glenn Gawdin's 51st of the season early in the second period on a nice shot from the left wing side off the rush. The captain later added an assist to extend his lead in the WHL points race.

Aleksi Heponiemi took advantage of a poor Tigers line change to pull Swift Current ahead 2-1 early in the third period on his 25th of the season and then set Artyom Minulin up for a 3-1 Broncos lead. Heponiemi's two points moved him ahead of Brayden Burke for second in the WHL points race at 103 points behind only Gawdin at 111.

Medicine Hat called a time out at that point and were able to regroup. Bryan Lockner finished a very nice Mark Rassell set up to close the gap before Elijah Brown scored on a rebound to tie the game with five minutes in regulation.

Both clubs had some exciting late chances including a Gawdin partial breakaway and a Rassell shot on a two-on-one that could have ended the game before overtime if not for strong goaltending from Skinner and Tigers netminder Michael Bullion.

Medicine Hat had the better of the play in overtime before Jevne ended up on a burst of speed from the wall to the Broncos net before ripping it top shelf short side on Skinner.

It wasn't a good night for Broncos power play as the league's top unit went 0 for 5 while looking a little out of sync. The loss ends Swift Current's six game winning streak.

The Broncos move into a tie with Moose Jaw for top spot in the WHL, Eastern Conference and East Division with the point from their overtime loss, but the Warriors have four games in hand on the Broncos. The two teams meet on Wednesday at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Moose Jaw visits Regina on Sunday and Brandon on Monday before the big game in Swift Current. It is their last visit to the iPlex in the regular season.
