It was a strong weekend for the Swift Current 16U Female Junior SunDogs ultimately resulting in a bronze medal in Moose Jaw.

The SunDogs won five of their six games over the weekend, including their first three to finish first in their pool.

They defeated the Yorkton Blitz Invasion 25-11, 26-24, the QCVC Voltage 26-24, 25-11 and the Moose Jaw Element Panthers 23-25, 25-13, 15-5.

After downing the Moose Jaw Element Panthers 15U 25-17, 25-21 in their quarter-final, the SunDogs then lost their only contest of the tournament, falling 21-25, 23-25 to the QCVC Royals.

Swift Current was able to bounce back in the bronze medal game though, picking up a 22-25, 26-24, 15-10 victory over the QCVC Eclipse.

Meanwhile, the 15U Female Junior SunDogs just narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in Regina.

Like the 16U team, the 15U went undefeated through round robin play winning four straight games.

They rolled to wins over the QCVC Royal Fusion 25-19, 25-21, the HVC White 25-20, 25-13, Alliance VC 25-10, 25-15, and the QCVC Blackout 21-25, 25-8.

Playing in their first playoff game, the SunDogs lost one of their two matches over the weekend, dropping a three-setter to QCVC Raiders 25-18, 15-25, 10-15.

Then in the bronze-semi, the SunDogs found themselves in another three-set match, but this time on the winning end, downing the QCVC Black Diamonds 25-18, 25-16, 15-12.

However, the SunDogs fell in the bronze medal game to the Royal Fusion 24-26, 21-25, to finish fourth in the tournament.
