The Saskatchewan Roughriders made a major splash on the opening day of CFL free agency on Tuesday.

The Green and White worked to address their biggest need this offseason with the addition of 2016 CFL Offensive Lineman of the Year Derek Dennis.

Dennis – six-foot-three, 341 lbs. – will reportedly become one of the highest paid offensive linemen in the CFL. He started all 18 games last season with the Calgary Stampeders, helping them to the best regular season record in the league and to a Grey Cup berth.

The 28-year-old was the CFL’s top offensive lineman and a CFL All-Star.

Prior to coming to the CFL, Dennis spent time in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.

The Riders followed up the Dennis signing by adding one of the players key to the Ottawa Redblacks upsetting the Stampeders in the Grey Cup this past November as they added national running back Kienan LaFrance.

The five-foot-nine, 205 lbs. Back had over 70 total yards in the Redblacks' Grey Cup win, which came one week after he put together a 157-yard, one touchdown performance in the East Final.

In 16 regular season games last season, LaFrance had 37 carries for 163 yards and 12 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown.

The 25-year-old was originally a sixth round pick by Ottawa in the 2015 CFL Draft.
