The fifth-annual Thursday Night Lights game awaits the Swift Current Comp Colts football team tonight at Colts Field.

The Colts (1-0) are set for a match up with the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings (0-1).

The Colts defeated Moose Jaw Peacock 21-6 in their opener, while Vanier was shut out 38-0 in their opener against the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones.

After Vanier utilized a pass-heavy offence in previous seasons, Colts head coach Derek Murdoch say 2018 should see a different style of Vikings offence.

"They want to try to run the ball. So, we're going to have to be sturdy, and force them to maybe get out of that game plan a little bit and maybe try and get them to do something they're not as comfortable with," said Murdoch.

"We know that they're always well-coached," he added. "I have a ton of respect for the way they do things, so we know they're going to be ready to come here. It's a big deal for us, but it's a big deal for them too. Their message is probably 'Let's go out there and break their hearts in front of everybody' so they'll be ready to go."

The full gameday interview with Murdoch can be listened to below. He talks about the meaning of this game to the team, school, and community, as well as more prep for their Week 2 opponent on a short week of practice.

The Colts and Vikings kick off at 7 p.m live on the Eagle 94.1, and you can catch all the pre-game action starting at 6:45 p.m.
