After stiff competition at a 24-team tournament in Spruce Grove, Alberta over the Thanksgiving long weekend, the Swift Current Comp Colts senior boys' volleyball team was back to winning on Saskatchewan soil this past weekend.

The Colts cruised through the competition at Prince Albert Carlton's tournament, with round robin wins against Saskatoon St. Joe's, North Battleford Comprehensive High School, and École St-Isidore of Bellevue.

Then, crossing over in a re-pool of teams, Swift Current was pooled with Prince Albert St. Mary's and Weyburn Comprehensive School.

The Colts senior boys' team topped both of those teams in straight sets to claim first place heading into the playoff round. The top spot earned Swift a bye through to the semi-finals, where a familiar opponent joined them.

The Colts and Weyburn squared off again, and just like the previous match, the southwest side defeated the southeast side in straight sets to advance to the tournament final.

In a bit of a redundant turn of events, Swift faced Prince Albert St. Mary's once again as well, and as was the case with the pair of Weyburn wins, Swift claimed the gold medal after winning two straight sets over the Prince Albert squad.

The Swift Current Comp Colts senior boys' volleyball team now heads to Moose Jaw for a tournament this weekend, and hosts the South Regional Championship November 10 and 11, looking to earn one of three spots at Provincials in Meadow Lake.
