The Swift Current Comp Colts soccer team continued to cruise through the competition to start 2018, moving to 3-0 with a win yesterday.

In their home opener, the Colts defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Central Cyclones 3-1.

"The boys really played a great game tonight," said Colts head coach Chris Garner. "I'm very impressed with how they stuck to the game plan and played a consistent 90 minute game. (It) showed real growth."

Swift striker Felix Danquah buried two more goals in the win, giving him 11 through the first three games of the season.

Co-captain Jaeden Carefoot ripped home the other Colts goal in front of the home crowd.

"High intensity playing in front of a home crowd," Carefoot noted. "We moved the ball better than we have before."

"(It's an) amazing feeling having everyone support us for the home opener," added fellow co-captain Dilan Vargas. "We found space over the field and it allowed us to play our game."

Two more games are on the horizon this weekend against a pair of Moose Jaw teams - if the team is to continue their strong start, the Colts' co-captains noted they would like to see their game tighten up.

"We need to work on splitting the defence with through balls," Carefoot admitted, with Vargas adding that switching the field is another area needing work.

The Colts take on Moose Jaw Peacock and Moose Jaw Vanier this Saturday in the Friendly City.
