Swift Current golf pro Brennan Rumancik earned another PGA of Sask tournament win in 2018, and this one was the most prestigious yet.

After wins at the Taylormade Pro Am and Pro-Pro Best Ball, Rumancik took home a match play title at the PGA of Sask Tour Championship at Dakota Dunes Golf Links on Monday and Tuesday.

"Yeah it's awesome, it's actually probably our biggest tournament of the year - all the big dogs are there," said Rumancik. "It's fun - it's a different event, it's match play, so it's much different than a lot of our other tournaments that we play throughout the year. It's great, I'm pumped, I'm feeling good - I'm a little tired, but I'm feeling good."

Rumancik logged a serious amount of golf over the two-day event to capture the 2018 tour title.

Day 1 saw the Elmwood Golf Club pro, as the #4 seed, top a familiar face in the first round - 13-seeded Chinook Golf Course pro Jeff Gross.

Rumancik edged Gross in the 22nd hole - the fourth of the sudden-death playoff.

In Rumancik's second match of the day, he played 17 more holes against fifth-seeded Kevin Dietz (Tor Hill Golf Course), defeating him 2&1 to advance to the semis.

After the 39-hole Day 1 effort, a tough test loomed in the semi-finals on Day 2 - defending champion and #1 seed Pat Marcia.

Rumancik dominated the defending champion with a 4&3 win.

He then advanced to face six-seeded Deer Valley Golf Club pro John Greenough in the final. There, Rumancik won 2&1 to take home $2500 in winnings.

The 71 holes of golf in two days marked the final event of Rumancik's 2018 season. Now, he says he looks forward to a combination of relaxation and hitting the Jeff Chambers Golf Academy at Elmwood to keep in rhythm over the winter.
