The Female Midget AA Broncos made strides in the right direction heading into the Christmas break, as they look to leap up the standings after the holidays.

The last-place Female Broncos were oh-so-close to toppling the first-place South East Goldwings on Saturday at the iPlex, but fell 2-1.

A Paris Appel marker kept the two teams tied at 1-1 through the first period, but the game-winner for the Goldwings came just 40 seconds into the second period.

The Female Midget AA Broncos then beat up the Notre Dame Hounds 3-0 on the road in Wilcox on Sunday.

Out-shooting the Hounds 39-15, Appel, Kalea Sauder, and Josie New all found the back of the net.

Aurora Van Wormer earned the shutout for the Female Midget AA Broncos (3-11-0), who are now off from league play until January 12, when they host the Parkland Fire (4-7-2).
