The Full Line Ag Female Midget AA Broncos opened their 2017-18 regular season with a weekend sweep of the Parkland Lions in Melville.

Saturday night's game in eastern Saskatchewan saw captain Kalea Sauder record a hat trick, as the Female Midget Broncos used a four-goal third period to pull away to a 6-2 win.

Sunday was a little more of a grind for both teams, as they combined for 14 minor penalties in the game, compared to eight in the previous game.

Swift Current jumped out to the early lead in the game, putting two goals on the board in the first period on shots from Carmen Hildebrandt and Josie Caldwell

But the game turned into a see-saw affair, as the Lions evened up the scored with two second period shots past Broncos goalie Allison Wall.

Wall would resemble just that for the final 20 minutes, however, as the see-saw tipped back in Swift Current's favour.

Third-period goals from Caldwell again, as well as Chelsea Wilson, pushed the lead out of reach, ending with the 4-2 win.

The Full Line Ag Female Midget AA Broncos are back in Swift Current for their home-opening weekend with games against the Estevan Bear Cats on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22.
