The first of three SHSAA Sectional Track and Field Meets this week took place Tuesday in Consul with the Whitemud Sectional.

Athletes from Consul, Eastend, Frontier, Shaunavon and Val Marie are all competing at the event.

In the end, four new records were set.

Shaunavon's Kortlyn Fuller ran and jumped her way to a pair of new record.

The 16-year old nearly broke the Senior Girls 80 Meter Hurdles record by a full second.

Fuller ran the race in a time of 13.17s, well ahead of the previous record of 13.97s.

Then, in Senior Girls High Jump, Fuller set the new Whitemud bar at 1.57m, which previously sat at 1.52m.

In the Junior Girls 3000 Meter, Tenelle Lind, also of Shaunavon, smashed the Whitemud record of 13:40.08.

Lind clocked in a time of 12:53.56.

Rounding out the record-breaking performances, Sarah Moule of Frontier threw her way into the record books.

In Senior Girls Javelin, Moule finished with a distance of 38.43m, well past the previous record of 36.70m.

Meanwhile, Consul's Tilly Paige tied the record in Bantam Girls 80 Meter Hurdles.

Paige finished the run with a time of 16.00s.

Sectional Track and Field Meets in the southwest will continue throughout the week.

On Wednesday, Swift Current will play host to the Rolling Hills Sectional, before hosting the Cypress Hills Sectional on Thursday.
