The Swift Current Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionaries were on the road this weekend to play two of the top four teams in the league.

The Legionaries started their weekend road trip with a 5-0 win over Tisdale on Saturday.

Four Swift Current players had multi-point nights, as Rhett Stevenson had two goals, Rin Beny and Jerzy Orchard picked up a goal and an assist and rookie Rhett Gibson had two assists.

Goaltender Cody Levesque stopped all 38 shots he faced, as he picked up his second shutout of the season.

Head Coach Darren Evjen, said the keys for them was their powerplay and their goaltending in the Friday night victory.

"Both powerplays were good, and we scored three goals, and then our goaltending was very strong," he said. "When you score on your powerplays and your goaltender makes some big saves it gives you some separation, and you not under that distress if you make a mistake, that it's going to cost you a hockey game and I think that was key."

After the win, the Legionaries were off to Prince Albert to take on the Mintos.

The Legionaries were unable to recover from a bad start to the game as they lost 4-2.

Swift Current was down 4-0 just 13 minutes into the game, and they would do their best to battle back as they got a goal from Mac Gross in the second, and Jacob Piller early in the third to cut the lead to two goals.

The Mintos would be able to hold on and move 6 points ahead of the Legionaries for fourth in the league.

Evjen said that after getting down early, he was happy to see his team fight back.

"In the first six, seven minutes we made a couple of mistakes and took some undisciplined penalties, and they capitalized on a five on four, and a five and three," he said. "We dug ourselves a hole 4-0. After that, we started playing, and for the rest of game, we were right there. We scored two goals to get back in it, and we had opportunities to get the third and fourth we just didn't capitalize."

Evjen added that he was happy with the weekend split.

"It was a good weekend," Evjen said. "We were going into two of the top four teams rinks. We knew it would be a tough weekend for us, and we came out with a split. We're not disappointed in that weekend, it's a tough swing for us and to come out with two points."

The Legionaries return to the ice this Friday when they host the Notre Dame Argos at the Iplex at 8:00 p.m.
