After a three-game slide was snapped Sunday in a 5-1 win over the Prince Albert Mintos, the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires are now winners of two straight.

The Legionnaires edged the Notre Dame Argos 3-2 on the road Thursday night.

Both team's were scoreless through nearly the first frame, before Hunter Larocque set up Rhett Evjen to give the Legionnaires the game's first goal with 34 seconds left.

Kersey Reich then made it 2-0 for Swift Current just over three minutes into the second on an unassisted shot.

The Argos were able to chip into the lead with 3:38 to go in the second, making it a 2-1 game.

Notre Dame then struck quickly into the final frame, needing just 71 seconds of third-period play to even things up.

The two teams battled back and forth for a large chunk of the third, before Larocque ripped home the game-winner on an assist from Jaxon Martens with 9:13 remaining.

However, the game was far from over at that point, as Notre Dame pushed back, aided by some untimely penalties.

The Legionnaires were able to kill off a couple of tough stretches in the final eight minutes.

First came 1:49 of an Argos' 5-on-3, then with the net empty and a Legionnaires man in the box, Notre Dame had 1:08 of 6-on-4 play.

Ethan Hein finished the game with 35 saves on 37 Argos shots. Swift Current threw 33 shots on net at the other end.

The Legionnaires (24-13-1-1) now sit fifth in the SMAAAHL, just two points back of the fourth-place Notre Dame Hounds with one game in hand.

Looking to push up into fourth, and have home ice advantage in the playoffs, the Legionnaires host the Yorkton Maulers Sunday and Monday of the holiday long weekend.
