Saving her best for last, Shaunavon's Hannah MacNeil shot her best round of the week on Wednesday to claim second place at the 67th Saskatchewan Junior Women's Golf Provincials Championships from the Chinook Golf Club in Swift Current.

MacNeil fired a final round 81, before downing Alexandra Schmidt in a playoff hole to finish second.

The Shaunavon native finished the tournament nine strokes back of first, but her +32 was good enough for second place and the top four finish she was looking for.

Finishing the top four, MacNeil clinched a berth in the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, held August 1-4 at the Camelot Golf and Country Club in Cumberland, Ontario.

She will also represent Saskatchewan at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg which run from August 8-11.

This summer will be MacNeil's second time attending the Junior National tournament after taking part last August at The Links at Penn Hills in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.

On the men's side, Swift Current's Griffin Wilson had the best finish of the southwest golfers.

He tied for 18th following a final round 76.

Swift Current's Gaige Calkins ended the tournament with a final round 83 to finish tied for 31st.

Maple Creek’s Ruben Cooper was 34th after a last round of 87.

Ethan Fizell of Swift Current finished in 35th, while Eastend's Kirk Humphreys withdrew on the final day.
