A five-goal first period proved to be more than enough scoring for the Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos, as they cruised to a 9-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors last night.

The Midget Broncos were led offensively by rookie defenceman Hendrik DeKlerk, who had a goal and three assists for a game-high four points.

Right behind DeKlerk with multi-point games of their own were Brock Oberle (2 G, 1 A), Colt Kornfeld (1 G, 2 A), John Priela (2 G), Kaden Floberg (2 A), and Rhett Evjen (2 A).

Nathan McInnis, Beau Larson, and Quinn Patenaude all scored in the Wednesday-night win, while Hunter Johnson, Riley Skarbon, and Matthew Christianson assisted once in the game.

Brad Nyen stopped 12 of 15 shots for the Midget Broncos, who now haven't lost a game since a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Notre Dame Argos on January 5.

The Midget AA Broncos are 6-0-1-0 in that stretch, outscoring opponents 46-15.

The regular season is into its final five games, and the Midget Broncos (18-7-4-2) play three of those this weekend. They're on the road in Weyburn on Friday, and back home at Fairview West arena Saturday and Sunday against the Regina Rangers.
