It took a bit of time for the bats to get rolling, but the Swift Current Mosquito 57's were able to salvage a split during day one of the Mosquito 'AA' Tier 1 Provincial championship in Swift Current.

Taking on the Lumsden Cubs in their first game, the 57's were only able to scratch across one run in a 3-1 loss.

Then, trailing the Lloydminster Twins 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 4th, the bats came alive.

The 57's went on to cash in the 11 runs in the game en route to an 11-5 victory over the Twins.

With the split, Swift Current enters day two of the competition unsure of where they will be positioned.

If Lumsden goes on to defeat Lloydminster on Saturday, the 57's would play in the quarter-finals at 4:00 Saturday afternoon.

However, should the Twins defeat Lumsden the teams will be in a three-way tie and the possibility would exist for Swift Current to finish first in the pool and receive a bye to semi-finals Sunday morning.

The event will resume with two games Saturday morning at 9:00.
