Despite not allowing a single earned run, and just one unearned run, the Midget 'AAA' 57's were unable to find their way into the win column.

The 57's dropped their fifth straight contest to open the 2017 season last night, falling 1-0 in Regina to the Athletics.

Swift Current got strong pitching performances out of Logan Fritzke and Brock Wall, however, the 57's could not get the bats rolling.

In their five games this season, Swift Current have yet to score more than two runs in a game, while combining for just six runs so far this summer.

Fritzke started the game on the mound and delivered three solid innings.

He surrendered just two hits and one walk while striking out five.

Unfortunately for Fritzke though, he was tagged with the loss, as Regina's unearned run cross home plate with him on the mound.

After retiring the first two batters to start the third inning, an error allowed Athletics Left Fielder Jordan Liebel to reach base safely and advance to second.

The very next batter hit a two-out single off of Fritzke to cash in the only run of the contest.

Wall took over for Fritzke on the mound to begin the fourth inning and also pitched three quality innings.

Striking out four batters, the righty gave up only two hits and one walk as well.

Offensively, the 57's did have a pair of chances that they were unable to capitalize on.

In both the first and third innings, Swift Current was able to get a runner on third base with only one out, but could not find a way to bring them home.

In the end, Fritzke, Nolan Klein and Brayden Matkowski wound up combining for the 57's three hits in the game.

Swift Current will be back in action on the weekend trying to snap their five game losing skid.

They will pay a visit to the Northwest Pirates on Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader.
