The made in Saskatchewan Hockey Harvest Lottery is less than a week away, and the prize has climbed to 6 figures.

As of Monday, the inaugural 50/50 prize pool is sitting at $273,000 dollars, with half going towards the eventual winner while the remainder helping to fund each of the five Saskatchewan WHL clubs separate scholarship initiatives.

Alumni scholarships have long been a part of each teams' repertoire. For each season played in the WHL, players are awarded a one-year post-secondary scholarship that includes tuition feeds, textbooks and other compulsory fees.

In November, Swift Current Online spoke with Nathan Macdonald, the Director of Business Operations with the Swift Current Broncos. He said that he feels that the program sets players up for success regardless of what direction life takes them.

Tickets began on sale on November 16th, with an early contribution from the Great Western Brewing Company teeing off the pot with a $75,000 dollar commitment.

The deadline for ticket purchases is December 20th, with the final draw taking place the next day.

Tickets are available through each teams' website, as well as whl.ca.
