"I'm going to stick it out and maybe wait for a pro-offer or something like that."

Those were the words of Swift Current Broncos netminder Jordan Papirny on Tuesday speaking about what his hockey future may have in store.

Not quite a week later, Papirny has signed an amateur tryout contract with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

The Marlies made the announcement via their official Twitter account Monday morning, just hours after the AHL's Chicago Wolves announced they had signed Glenn Gawdin to an ATO.

Papirny came to Swift Current at the 2017 WHL Trade Deadline and backstopped the Broncos to their first trip to the second round of the WHL Playoffs since 2008.

Playing his 20-year old season, Papirny felt the trade to Swift Current helped him reach another level this season.

"I didn't think I was having a great start to the year in Brandon," he said.

"Having that change, that new look, coming into a new group and completely new setting for my last couple months of my junior career was definitely a change that was the best thing for me."

In 14 playoff games for the Broncos, Papirny posted a 2.48 Goals Against Average and a .935 Save Percentage.

The Edmonton native is a two-time WHL Eastern Conference champion with the Brandon Wheat Kings, while helping guide them to a WHL championship last season.
