It was a big showing for Special Olympics Saskatchewan as part of Team Canada at the 2019 World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.

Team Sask athletes secured eight gold medals, two silvers, and four bronze on the world stage.

Special Olympics Swift Current Swimming Coach Jackie Powell served as an Associate Swimming Coach for Team Canada at the World Games.

Three Team Sask athletes (Michael Qing - Regina, Colby Kosteniuk - Regina, Tianna Zimmerman - Englefeld) on Powell's swimming team earned eight of those 14 total medals:

Kosteniuk - 400m Freestyle
Qing - 1500m Freestyle
Qing - 800m Freestyle
Kosteniuk/Qing - 4x100m Medley Relay
Zimmerman - 4x50m Freestyle Relay

Silver

Kosteniuk - 1500m Freestyle

Bronze

Zimmerman - 800m Freestyle
Qing - 400m Freestyle

In total, Special Olympics Canada earned 155 medals at the World Games.
