The Shaunavon Silhouettes had a great showing capturing the regional title and a spot at SHSAA HOOPLA.

The #3 ranked Silhouettes opened the tournament with a 79-53 win over Maidstone.

They met Lashburn in the final.

The Silhouettes had a substantial lead but the Lady Lobos chipped away and in the 4th quarter made it a tie game with less than a minute left.

But with 28 seconds left, Shaunavon scored and then converted two free throws to make the final 64-60.

The Silhouettes will now be the lone Southwest representative at HOOPLA which will be held March 24 & 25 in Regina.

Elsewhere, the #5 ranked Shaunavon Shadows got off to a good start in their regional beating Norquay 68-45.

This put them into the final on Saturday afternoon against a fast moving team from St. Brieux.

It was a close game for the duration with the teams trading baskets and the score within 3-5 points.

In the last minute, the #4 ranked St. Brieux Crusaders pulled away for a 79-67 win and a trip to HOOPLA.

At the 1A boys’ level, the #5 ranked Herbert Laurels travelled to Lake Lenore.

The Laurels lost a heartbreaker to Stoughton 66-62.

They then beat Pinehouse on the consolation side 72-57.

Meanwhile the #10 ranked Frontier boys competed at Rocanville at another 1A regional.

Frontier suffered a 69-36 loss to Hepburn but turned around on the consolation side to beat Nakoda Oyade 62-50.

In 1A girls’ action, #11 ranked Herbert participated at Middle Lake.

They took on Hague in their first game and lost 68-53.

The Laurels rebounded on the consolation side with a win over Kerrobert 83-39.

At the 3A level both Maple Creek girls and boys were ranked #11.

The lady Rebels travelled to Indian Head where they lost to Unity 68-37.

They beat Kamsack on the consolation side 53-48.

Meanwhile the boys were in Clavet.

The Rebels lost a close game to Indian Head 71-65 and then beat Macklin on the consolation side 91-87.

In 5A action, the Swift Current Ardens were ranked 4th out of 6 teams at the rural regional in Estevan.

The Ardens got off to a great start beating Yorkton Regional 63-49.

This put them up against a strong team from PA Carlton, wehre the Ardens lost to PA 68-54.

PA then went on to win the tournament.

The Swift Current boys were ranked #5 out of 7 teams at the rural regional held at Prince Albert.

The Colts lost a close one to Estevan 69-65 before rebounding on the consolation side with a win over Balgonie 56-54.
