What a Saturday night for Battlefords North Stars captain Cody Spagrud, getting to suit up with his SJHL club in his home town of Gull Lake in the final Junior A season of his career.

Spagrud and the North Stars battled the Notre Dame Hounds in the late game at the Gull Lake and Community Rec Complex, as part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.

In his return to the southwest, the former Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires blueliner recorded an assist, as the North Stars downed the Hounds 3-2 in overtime.

Battlefords has now has won four straight, and sits atop the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division at 24-10-4-4.

Meanwhile Spagrud is scoring at a career-best pace in his fourth year in the SJHL.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder matched his career-high of 30 points set last season (1 G, 29 A in 55 games), though has needed 15 fewer games to do so this season (8 G, 22 A in 40 games).

Spagrud and Battlefords are next in action when they host the Kindersley Klippers Tuesday night.
