A pair of SWAC Senior basketball teams qualified for a spot at SHSAA Regionals in Conference play this weekend.

The Shaunavon Silhouettes placed second at their 2A Girls Conference tournament, hosted by Moose Jaw Cornerstone.

Shaunavon upended top-seeded Davidson 49-45 in their opener to move to the final. There, the Silhouettes were downed 73-52 by the hosts from Cornerstone, securing the second-and-final spot at Regionals in the process.

The Silhouettes are on the road at a Saskatoon Christian Academy-hosted Regional tournament. They open play Friday night against Asquith.


In 1A Boys play, the Herbert Laurels came away with a second-place finish in Davidson to advance.

Herbert kicked off play with a comfortable 67-44 win over Eatonia in their first contest. They advanced to take on the hosts from Davidson in the Conference final, falling 91-79.

The Laurels are also in action this Friday in their Regional opener, as they take on Mistawasis at the Lake Lenore-hosted bracket.


Meanwhile both Swift Current Comp Senior Ardens and Senior Colts are off to Regionals this weekend as well, battling in their usual 5A brackets.

The Senior Colts are headed to Yorkton for their Regional tournament, kicking play off Friday evening against Estevan.

The Senior Ardens are off to Prince Albert Carlton for their bracket, and open play Saturday morning against the winner of a Friday contest between Yorkton and Weyburn.
