The offence appears to be finding its groove for the Swift Current 57's.

On the road in Yorkton Wednesday night, the 57's rolled past the Cardinals 9-2, winning their third straight game and sixth over their last seven contests.

For Swift Current, it was the bottom of the order that set the table all night.

Hitting in the 8 and 9 spots, Ben Andrews and Cole Thibodeau combined for five hits, four walks and five runs scored.

Trailing 1-0 early on, the 57's got things going in the top of the 3rd.

A Matt Bondarchuk single and a Riley Campbell fielder's choice drove in a pair of rains, taking Swift Current from down one run to up one.

In the top of the 4th the offence continued for Swift Current.

Andrews cashed in a run with a single before Nick Canas increased the lead to 4-1 with a sacrifice fly.

Campbell then drove in the 57's fifth run of the game in the top of the 6th with a sacrifice fly of his own.

Leading 5-2 in the top of the 8th, Swift Current made sure to put the game away.

Blake Adams and Kyle MacDonald ripped back-to-back RBI doubles increasing the lead to 7-2, and in the 9th, Thibodeau and Bondarchuk both cashed in runs with a single and fielder's choice.

The run support proved to be plenty for 57's starting pitcher James Smith.

Although finding himself in a few jams throughout the evening, the Brighton, Colorado native delivered 6-2/3 innings of two run baseball.

Smith allowed nine hits and three walks but ultimately found a way to improve his record to 4-0.

With the win, the 57's improved to 17-9 on the season but they still trail the Regina Red Sox by one game for top spot in the WMBL's East Division after Regina downed Moose Jaw 19-13.

Swift Current will continue their 2017 summer schedule on Thursday with a visit to Melville.
