A strong start couldn't be carried through the entire 60 minute game, as Team Sask's men's hockey team fell 5-3 to Team Quebec in their semi final of the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer on Thursday.

Team Sask jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the first period, but Quebec put their foot down in the second, scoring four goals, not looking back in the process.

Now, some local talent and Team Sask have a chance at Bronze today.

Home Hardware Legionnaires Logan Linklater, and Joe Arntsen, Midget AA Bronco Justin Dueck, and former Bantam AA Bronco Hayden Wilm have the bronze medal battle at 5 p.m. Sask time.

Their opponent is a Team Alberta squad that was handed an 8-4 loss by Team Ontario in the second semi-final yesterday.

On the bench for Team Alberta is assistant coach Brandin Cote, who of course serves in that same role with the Broncos, who are back in action against the Moose Jaw Warriors tonight at the iPlex.

The matchup has 14 of 22 first-round selections from the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft spread across both rosters:

1st overall - Dylan Guenther (AB)
3rd overall - Nolan Allan (SK)
4th overall - Sean Tschigerl (AB)
6th overall - Colton Dach (AB)
7th overall - Jayden Grubbe (AB)
8th overall - Zack Stringer (AB)
9th overall - Craig Armstrong (AB)
10th overall - Kai Uchacz (AB)
11th overall - Cole Sillinger (SK)
12th overall - Zack Ostapchuk (AB)
14th overall - Marc Lajoie (AB)
16th overall - Kyle Masters (AB)
19th overall - Gabe Klassen (SK)
20th overall - Keegan Slaney (AB)

Also of note, Alberta forward Matthew Savoie (04) is heavily projected to be the first-overall selection in 2019 as well.

Puck drop in Red Deer between Team Sask and their neighbours to the west is set for 5 p.m. Sask time.
