Noah Gregor scored his first two goals of the playoffs as the Moose Jaw Warriors staved off elimination with a 3-2 win in Swift Current.

Zach Sawchenko made 41 saves as the Warriors won game six in front of a sold out Credit Union iPlex crowd to force game seven at Mosaic Place on Monday.

"We didn't play the way we've been playing the last couple nights in the first two periods and it cost us," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith. "We played a lot of perimeter hockey and weren't straight forward. We leaked a little bit in or d-zone."

Gregor scored twice in the first period as the Warriors opened the scoring for the first time in the series.

“It feels good, I thought I had a couple of chances in the earlier games, but wasn't playing my best, so it was nice to get a couple of goals and have our team win tonight,” said Gregor. “We've been preaching all series to try to go to the net and we hadn't been doing a great job of that for a whole game, but we did that tonight and we're going to continue that into Monday's game.”

Ryley Lindgren answered for the Broncos with his fifth of the series in between the two Gregor goals as the battled to force a puck under Sawchenko at the side of the Moose Jaw net.

The Broncos had several big chances in the first half of the second period as they outshot the Warriors 14-5 and came within a hair of tying the game.

"I thought we started out pretty well," Lajoie said. "We got away from our systems in the second there and gave them a little too much respect. Just weren't doing the simple things, weren't getting pucks in deep, weren't getting guys in front... we've just got to stick to our game plan and we'll be ok."

The second half of the period was a completely different story as Moose Jaw outshot Swift Current 10-1 and pulled further ahead on Justin Almeida's deflection.

It came down to the wire in the third period again as Tyler Steenbergen deflected in a Max Lajoie shot with just over six minutes to play and cut Moose Jaw's lead to 3-2.

“The nerves have been shot since game two,” said Sawchenko. “It's been pretty crazy the whole series, it's been one goal games, there hasn't been a blow out, it's been down to the wire every game and it's two really evenly matched teams competing against each other.

“I wasn't prepared to go home tomorrow, this team has come to far and I've come to far over the past four years to be sent home early and not put up every last ounce of fight in us. It's been fun.”

The Broncos had a late power play and a strong push with Jordan Papirny pulled, but they couldn't solve Sawchenko to force overtime.

"We need more traffic," Smith said. "More people in his eyes and we have to hit the net. We had a couple chances we miss the net."

Papirny made 38 saves on 41 Warriors shots.

Each game in the series has come down to the final minute with one team's goaltender pulled and the road team has won four of the six games.

Game seven is set for Moose Jaw on Monday night and the winner will advance to play Regina in the second round.

"Game sevens are tough," Smith said. "It's winner take all. There's not a lot of room for error. It will be like the series. It will be a close game and it will be tight."

We will have the broadcast of the final game of the series this Monday on The Eagle 94.1 FM with Robertson Family Group Broncos Hockey at 6:30pm.
