Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats captain Taylor Kirwan's first game of 2018 will be played in a prestigious jersey.

Kirwan's resume as of late has warranted a spot on Hockey Canada's roster for the 2018 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship which will take place in Dmitrov, Russia from January 6-13.

This is the latest in the string of notable recognition for the SFMAAAHL's top-scoring defenceman.

The Gull Lake product, who has produced 14 points (6 G, 8 A) in 11 games this season with the Wildcats, was named to the Team Canada Female U18 team for three exhibition games in Lake Placid, N.Y. this past August.

Then, Kirwan suited up to play for Team Sask at the National Women's Under-18 Championships at the start of November, and for the second year in a row. There, she was named the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the tournament.

Kirwan and the Wildcats (4-6-0-2) are looking to bounce back from a pair of home losses to the Prince Albert Northern Bears last weekend at Fairview West, as they welcome the Battlefords Sharks (3-9-0-0) to the southside Swift Current arena with games on Saturday and Sunday.
