Swift Current golfer Griffin Wilson was in the field at the 107th Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Championship the past three days, climbing his way into the top third of the leaderboard.

Wilson finished at +8 and in a four-way tie for 25th among 97 golfers at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links-hosted tournament.

He shaved strokes off each round over the three-day event.

Wilson shot an opening-round 79, following that up with a 74 in round two. His low round of the tournament was his third and final, shooting a 71 (-1) to close.

Wilson was -2 on the front nine thanks to birdies on the sixth and eighth holes. However three bogeys, including two on the finals two holes, offset a pair of birdies, leading to a +1 back nine.

He finished 17 shots back of Yorkton's Kade Johnson, who shot a final-round 66 to win the tournament at -9.

Also in the field from the southwest was Eastend's Kirk Humphrey. He finished in a two-way tie for 92nd at +39.
