A much different score for Team Canada on game number two of the 2019 World Junior Championship - after routing Denmark 14-0, Canada ran into a gritty Swiss squad.

The Canadians squeaked out a 3-2 win, thanks to some key saves from Prince Albert Raiders netminder Ian Scott in between the pipes for the hosts.

Scott made 15 saves in the win, as Canada moved to 2-0.

Meanwhile the lone WHL contribution on the offensive end came from Portland Winterhawks forward Cody Glass, who scored the game's first goal just 36 seconds into the first period.

Former Swift Current Bronco Aleksi Heponiemi was one of five players to find the back of the net, as Finland rebounded from a tournament-opening loss to Sweden with a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan.

Hepo scored the game's final goal with just under 11 minutes to go in the third, as Finland jumped back to .500 (1-1) with the W.

Elsewhere in Day 2 action:

  • Sweden moved to 2-0 with a 5-2 win over Slovakia, and
  • Russia shut out Denmark 4-0

Looking ahead to Day 3 of play in the Vancouver/Victoria-hosted tournament, both Team Canada and Heponiemi's Finnish squad are off today, leaving just two games on the docket:

  • The United States takes on Kazakhstan, and
  • Russia squares off with the Czech Republic
