The only Saskatchewan skater selected by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft was Yorkton's Massen Ziola.

"I was so excited to be drafted by such a great organization," he said. "It was an unreal feeling. I love the place. I have been to a couple games and the fans were unreal."

Playing with the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Bantam 'AA' Hockey League, Ziola has played plenty of games in Swift Current.

Being able to stay in his home province was an added bonus for the Yorkton forward.

"It actually means a lot," he said.

"It means my family and friends are still close and I won't have to move that far away."

Ziola had a strong season with the Terriers over the 2016-17 campaign despite suffering a broken arm.

He didn't feel there were a lot of negatives in his season besides the injury.

"I felt like it was really good off the start, until I broke my arm," he said.

"But, I was able to recover from that quickly and get back, so it was great. I had some good linemates, it was really good."

The left-winger went on to tally 24 goals and 31 assists in his 27 regular season games, before tallying 3 goals and 8 assists in 4 playoff games.

"I'm a play-maker with some speed," he said.

"I find open ice, but I am going to try and use the body more. I also think I am a leader."

Measuring up at 5'7" and 121lbs, Ziola feels the biggest thing between him and the WHL right now, outside of experience, is bulking up.

When asked what he needed to improve that is exactly where he went.

"My physical ability," he said. "I don't hit that much and I need to be more physical."

With the summer ahead of him he is prepared to beginning working on developing that physicality.

Ziola says his plan is in place, leading up to prospects camp.

"I am going to be in the gym almost every day just trying to get bigger and stronger," he said.
