Over the weekend close to 100 people gathered at the Braddock Town Hall for the fourth-annual Harvest Stomp.

The Harvest Stomp was started four years ago by Wayne Christopher as a way to raise money to fix up the town hall in Braddock - which is the last remaining building in the town.

Christopher, who is originally from Ontario, said the reason he wanted to fix it up was that his relatives live in the Braddock area, but also because his grandfather was one of the principal builders of the town hall in the 1920s.

Christopher said this year's event went well.

"It was great, we had really good food, and really good entertainment and people were dancing. Everybody just had a good time."

He said that the Harvest stomp isn’t just about fixing up the hall but bringing back an event that happened over 50 years ago.

"It was a tradition year ago, back in the early 1900s and 1950s, back when Braddock was still a functioning town," he said. "All the producers would get together at the end of harvest and let their hair down and have some fun, and have a good meal and have a dance, a few drinks."

Christopher added that he had put over 3,000 hours into fixing up the hall, which he says should be completed by next year.
