Over the weekend people from the southwest were in Hodgeville at the Community Centre for the ninth annual Night of Jesus Nativity Show.

The show started back in 2009, and featured over 100 nativity scenes; the show has now grown over the year’s and featured 939 nativity scenes this year.

“It’s something I could have never dreamt of,” said Anne Barkman, one of the organizers of the event. “To see it grown to feature over 900 is just phenomenal.”

Barkman said they host this the show every year to celebrate the real reason behind Christmas.

“The reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus," she said. "The scenes portray that in such a special and unique way, and each artist does it in such a cool way that we wanted to share that with people.”

This year’s show had over 15 people donate their nativity scenes, and it was the biggest one in their nine years. The show also had people from as far as Saskatoon come check out the scenes.

Barkman added that they want everyone to come out and experience the beauty of the trees, the lights, the atmosphere, the music, and hopefully they’ll receive the real meaning of Christmas through that.
