The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group is a group formed looking to offer financial assistance and support to seriously ill people around the southwest.

The Group held their Fundraising Kickoff on Saturday May 6th with a Garage, Bake and Plant Sale, which netted a grand total of over $6,000.

Brenda Waldron is the secretary of the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group. She gives us her thoughts on why this type of group and the fundraiser were such a success. She says, "And there's so many cutbacks in the Health Care System, and in other Systems, but in the Health Care in particular. People realize it's really needed. We knew that the need was there. We just didn't know if we were gonna have the support."

Waldron adds that continual fundraising is imperative to be able to assist people and a number of fundraising events are in the works.

Coming up this summer, they will be selling lunch following the Boomtown Days Parade in July, they are planning a 50/50 and are in the midst of organizing a Dinner Theatre and a Pub Night for September 22nd and 23rd in Shaunavon. Keep watching for more details on that and how you can get tickets.
