Earlier this week the community came together for the 4th-annual Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer's.

The walk was held by the Alzheimer's Society and took place at the track north of the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.

Laura Hirtle, is the first link coordinator for the Cypress Resource Centre, and said that this year's event was a record breaker.

"This is the highest turnout we've ever had," she proclaimed. "We've raised the most amount of money this year, so it's really exciting."

The walk raised $11,000 nearly doubling the original goal of $6,000 that will go towards research for Alzheimer's, and it's cure as well as other forms for dementia.

The event included much more than walking as located on the scene were an assortment of BBQ goods, chips, and soda.

Over 564,000 Canadians are currently living with dementia with 25,000 new cases of dementia diagnosed every year.
