Cypress Hills-Grasslands MP David Anderson has issued a new argument for opposing the federal government's carbon tax.

In a release issued this morning, Anderson stated that scientists who play out scenarios who create future environmental models can be inaccurate, and even manipulated for a desired result.

Anderson said that "Trudeau's Liberals are using these models to set their carbon tax policy," in the statement which cited data on polar bears as an indicator of climate change.

Speaking on polar bears being affected by climate change, Anderson said that the public has misinterpreted their current situation.

"Polar bears have been adopted as a symbol of climate change but a report from Nunavut last week contradicted all that we have been told about them. Polar bears are not threatened by the present climate in the north. They are thriving to the point that they need to be managed as they are becoming a threat to the people in the area."

Anderson said that if polar bears are in fact not threatened by climate change, it brings other facts about the shift in temperature into question.
